We are a young food nation, with a melting pot of cultures and cuisines available.
At Culprit we use local NZ ingredients and apply a modern global edge, along with a healthy dose of Kiwi nostalgia for good measure.

Hailing from the great white north ‘Alberta-Canada’ Berty has called Aotearoa home for over 10 years…

Her NZ career started in Wellington at cutting edge restaurant Shepherd before joining the Culprit team as Head Chef.

Berty brings a mashup of passions into the Culprit kitchen;

From her sneaky morning forages to early career wine training, an unhealthy love of junk food,  inappropriate visits to farmers markets for ‘vegetable fondling’ to her interests in chaotic pop art & feminist rage, basically just a general zest for all things unique & delicious.

I’ve always found it captivating how waitstaff make a frantic moment of chaos look like a graceful waltz. It turns out, being a chatterbox with an inability to sit still makes me the ideal person to orchestrate the energy & ambience of Culprit’s dining room.

At Culprit, there is passion for great food and service, without the stuffiness of other fine dining experiences.

Liam has been running the beverage programs across both Culprit & Little Culprit since the summer of 2024.

When asked Liam was reluctant to define his style, but I like to think of it as Nu-Classic, an eclectic style that calls back to old school drinks with modern edge and technique, not dissimilar to our Culprit food ethos. *nudge nudge

Deeply inspired by the classic underrated Tom Cruise movie Cocktail, and often sporting a gorgeous Tom Selleck ‘stash you’ll find him across the road at Little Culprit Wed-Sat.
